Tweeting For Travel Bargains By Discount Airlines
March 9th, 2011 by admin

Discount airlines and companies are moving beyond their own websites to promote travel, and you can now find some great bargains on social-networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. The companies seek to increase their following on these sites by offering special deals, promotions and general news feeds. Bestfares.com is an example of one site that posts stories and deals to their own website and blog, and also to Twitter and Facebook.
This company says that of all the media they are using, they have found Twitter to be a better tool then e-mail for spreading the word about last-minute sales because it gets the word out the quickest. Some of the best fares are a result of mistakes made by the airlines, and those mistakes have been especially widespread since the start of the year. For example, Delta mistakenly entered fares from Dallas to almost anywhere in Europe for under $400 round trip, including taxes and fees.
